From all of us at Schworer Volkswagen we would like to wish you a very Happy Holiday Season! We are blessed with some of the very best customers in the business, and would like to take this time to thank them for another successful year. We hope that everyone is able to stay safe and have fun over the next few weeks.

Be sure to get an oil change, top off your fluids, check your tires and tire pressure and wiper blades before getting on the road too, as these are critical to staying safe in bad weather conditions. It also is a great idea to have an emergency kit in case you get stranded on the road. An ideal emergency kit should contain the following: bottled water, non-perishable food, blankets, gloves, small shovel, ice melt, hand warmers, flash light and road flares. These items will help you survive a tricky situation.

Finally, we were lucky to enjoy a Holiday Potluck Lunch last Friday. Everyone brought something delicious in, so here are some pictures from the event!

We are excited to come back with one of our great traditions at the store; the pre-Thanksgiving Eating Contest!!! Last year, Stan won the Tastee Sandwich contest with 9 sandwiches. This year the team decided that food of choice would be……sloppy joe’s! After many hours (or so he claims) of cooking, Stan prepared the feast. The contestants this year included returning champion Stan, and challengers Jake and Tracy. The contestants were ready to take down this momentous challenge, so lets take a look at who claimed victory!

Jake started strong.....

Stan was slow and steady, but mainly slow.

Tracy was intense throughout the 30 minutes.

Who was the winner? Drumroll please…………………………………………………………………………………… Tracy with 11 sloppy joes in 30 minutes! Stan and Jake finished at 9.

Celebrating his dominating win, Tracy decided to 'Tebow' in the middle of the show floor.

We hope that you are doing well and that your autumn is off to a great start. We have some very exciting news for those people with small children!

Approximately 90% of car seats in Lancaster County are not properly installed or used correctly.  This can greatly decrease the projection the seat is designed to provide in the event of a crash.   Find out if your car seat is properly installed.  On Saturday, October 22nd from 9:30 to 12:30, Safe Kids Lincoln-Lancaster County will  have certified child passenger safety seat technicians on hand at Schworer Volkswagen to help you learn how to properly install your child’s car seat.   The event is free and appointments are required.  Appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes and can be made by calling Janette at the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department at 402-441-8045. Walk-ins are welcome, but there may be a wait, so its easiest to schedule an appointment.

Today’s post is about our Service Manager, Rudy, as he and our service staff goe above and beyond the normal service procedures to help customers. The following was taken out of CONNECT magazine:

“After hitting a deer, customer Amy Lee’s car was repaired at Schworer Volkswagen in Lincoln, Nebraska. After all the work was completed, Amy notified the dealership that she would be coming to pick up the car, and then driving back home to Wisconsin. Knowing that the customer had never been to Lincoln and was traveling by herself, Service Manager Rudy Wagner went out of his way to take care of her. After detailing the vehicle, he parked it right outside of the front door of Amtrak, facing the way that Amy needed to go. He included a basket filled with drinks, cookies, a screwdriver to install her license plates, small VW trinkets, a detailed map to get home and his cell phone number in case she had any questions. Amy never got to meet anyone at Schworer VW, or even see the dealership, but what an experience!”

2. Time for an oil change? Please replace the old, worn out oil with fresh oil and filter to keep your engine clean and running smooth.  Don’t forget to check the rest of the fluids under the hood.

3. Replace the wiper blades.  They’ve been working hard this winter to keep your windshield clear of snow and ice.  Make sure they are ready for the spring rain showers.

4. Don’t forget about your tires, the “soul of your car.”  Rotate the tires and while that’s being done, check the brakes.

We hope that your week has been exciting as Christmas approaches this weekend. We would like to wish you and those close to you a very Merry Christmas. Hopefully, everyone will have a very safe and happy holiday! Hopefully those of us in Nebraska can avoid another huge blizzard on Christmas like there was last year.

- One of the decorations that we have been enjoying on the show floor the past couple of weeks has been our 2011 Tiguan with bike rack attachment. The lovely people at Cycle Works in Lincoln let us showcase a GIANT Revel 2 on the Tiguan for maximum effect! Luckily, as you can see below, the bike went up without a hitch and looks great. Thanks to Cycle Works and our service manager Rudy for helping us show off the ’11 Tiguan in style!

Coming to America: the 2011 Golf R

-As the holiday season is now in full swing, we have some very exciting news about the 2011 Golf R: it is coming to the United States in limited supply! If you are a fan of the Golf, this is the car for you. Stay tuned if there is one in your area to test drive.
